Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a form of depression that occurs during specific times of the year, most commonly in the fall and winter months when daylight hours are reduced. For many Canadians, the long, dark winters can take a toll on mental health, with an estimated 2-3% of the population experiencing full-blown SAD and another 15% facing milder seasonal mood changes, often referred to as "the winter blues."
